About Us

Dr. Christopher Stemerdink

Dr. Christopher Stemerdink was born and raised in Kitchener, Ontario. He completed an Honours Bachelor of Science with a thesis in Developmental Neurobiology in 1994, followed by further research in the same field with a Masters of Science in 1997 at McMaster University. He then graduated from the University of Toronto in 2001 with a Doctor of Medicine Degree, and then went to the University of Ottawa for the Family Medicine Residency Rural Program. Subsequently, he worked both in family medicine and emergency in Carleton Place as a locum physician. Dr. Stemerdink moved to Guelph in 2003 to start his family practice. In addition to his practice, he also works as a core physician at St. Joseph's Health Centre and currently works at the Guelph Covid Assessment Centre. Dr. Stemerdink serves on the board of directors of the Guelph Family Health Team, Stonehenge Therapeutic Community, Medical Advisory Committee to Sunrise Therapeutic Riding and Learning Centre, and Guelph Family Health Team Access Committee (to evaluate and improve patient access to health care). Dr. Stemerdink is married and has 2 sons. He plays hockey and enjoys skiing.

Dr. John Laird

Dr. John Laird completed an undergraduate bachelor's degree in Biology in 1988 at the University of Western Ontario. After that, he went to the University of Toronto where he completed his medical degree in 1992. Subsequently, he did a residency in Family Medicine at McMaster University. Dr. Laird moved to Guelph in 1995 and began his career in Family Practice at that time. He is married and has 2 sons. His passions include travel and pretty much anything to do with the outdoors.

Dr. Caroline Albion

Dr. Caroline Albion graduated from Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University with her Medical Degree as well as a concurrent PhD in Anatomy and Cell Biology. She continued her Family Medicine residency training at Western University Rural Medicine Training Program at Stratford-Tavistock. On weekends she enjoys watching NASCAR with her husband as well as creating Fine Art.

Dr. Kristin Mayrand

Dr. Kristin Mayrand completed her Medical Degree at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry in Windsor, Ontario in 2017 and completed her Family Medicine residency program at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario in 2019. She also works at St. Joseph's Healthcare Centre Guelph taking care of Long Term Care patients and at the Covid Assessment Clinic. She is a proud Dog Mom of her Bernedoodle named “Miggy”, and is also an avid Detroit Tigers and Deroit Red Wings fan!

Dr. Andrew Daly

Dr. Andrew Daly completed his undergraduate degree in Life Sciences and Physical and Health Education at Queen’s University. He attended medical school in Brisbane Australia at the University of Queensland, followed by a Family Medicine residency through the University of British Columbia - rural Kelowna program. After finishing residency in 2017 he practiced in the South Okanagan for several years in a full-service position including rural emergency work. He relocated with his family to Guelph in 2020 and has been a part of the Gordon Street Family Medical team officially since early 2021. He has a special interest in myofascial pain syndromes, and practices several interventional modalities including MyoActivation and Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS).

Katy Wilton, Nurse Practitioner

Katy initially completed her RPN certificate in 2007 and immediately bridged to complete her Bachelor and Science in Nursing (BScN) through Ryerson University. During this time she worked for a non-profit organization in Kitchener providing
mental health support, as well as at the Guelph General Hospital (GGH) on the medical/surgical units, then ultimately the Emergency Department (ED). From here, Katy completed her Masters in Nursing and her Nurse Practitioner, working
initially in the ED but ultimately for the Guelph Family Health Team (GFHT). She is married with 2 daughters and a geriatric dog.

 

Katie MacNaughton, Nurse Practitioner

Katie initially completed her RPN certificate at Conestoga College in 2005. In 2008 she competed her Bachelor and Science in Nursing at McMaster University. Katie started her nursing career at Guelph General Hospital on the inpatient surgical unit, transitioning to community nursing working for Home and Community Care as a chronic disease nurse. Katie has also taught various nursing courses through Conestoga College. Katie has just recently completed her Masters in Nursing and Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. She is a proud mom of 4 children and 2 dogs.
